Mother

Two years ago, I discovered a series of tore photos at the basement back home in Hong Kong. There were about 12 photos in an envelope, photos of my mother in her early twenties. Despite not knowing why they are being tore, I started working on them with the potential stories unfolding.

Manually re-framing the photo after capturing with a camera, changing its composition and representation. Throwing away the inessentials and focusing on the figure in the image. All these conceptual thoughts flood in when these photos were found.

Base on my pure curiosity of her as my father's wife, my mother and a woman, I started imagining what will be on the tore side of the photo, and the relation with the photo. The unreal and unreal, the realistic and abstract,  all these questions comes up.

Currently I have started to create my own photos, tore them apart to focus on certain element, and exploring all the possibilities.
